Special Circumstances for Undergraduates
Coterminal Students
Coterminal students enrolling for a fifth year
Coterm students who have reached their 13th or higher quarter (including enrollment at other institutions), are not eligible for undergraduate Stanford scholarship. You are considered a graduate student and may apply for graduate student loans to help meet your student budget. You may also seek funding directly through your department. To apply for graduate aid, review the Graduate Basics section of this site.
Coterm students who are no longer eligible for undergraduate scholarship support and who received full funding through the financial aid program as undergraduates receive priority consideration for the Engineering Coterminal Fellowship.
Coterminal students enrolling within 12 quarters
Coterm students who have not yet completed 12 quarters, including enrollment at other institutions, may be eligible for Stanford scholarship if your bachelor's degree has not been conferred. To be considered for undergraduate aid, you must complete the Applying for Aid process.
Coterminal students with Assistantships
Coterm students may receive course assistant (CA), research assistant (RA), or teaching assistant (TA) appointments from a department, and receive funding as a graduate student. If you receive graduate support while still eligible for undergraduate scholarships (before your 13th quarter of enrollment), your aid will be adjusted to include the additional support. To be eligible for a graduate student assistantship you must meet the criteria to be billed at the graduate tuition rate. The Registrar’s Office is responsible for Coterm Tuition Assessment.
