Undergraduate Student Wage Scale

The hourly wage scales for undergraduates who are working on campus are shown below. The rate paid for a specific position should be in accordance with the skills and experience needed to perform the job. Detailed descriptions of job levels are available at Administrative Guide 10.1.1.3.

The undergraduate wage scale is designed to promote consistency in student pay and is what employers reasonably expect to pay for undergraduate student positions. Some student positions may justify being paid above the wage scale. In this situation, hiring departments should work with their HR staff to establish a wage scale for student employees within their unit that fit their specific criteria to identify these roles. Hiring departments must ensure they can justify why the pay structure for their student positions are above the undergraduate wage scale and that pay is consistent for similar jobs in their unit.

For work performed on or after January 1, 2024, the following new hourly wage scale should be used:
