Applying for Aid
Requirements and Deadlines
To apply for aid, you will need to complete the following required forms:
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — An online application provided by the U.S. Department of Education
- Graduate Student Loan Application — Stanford’s online institutional application

Priority Filing Deadline |
Six weeks before the first day of the quarter(s) for which you wish to borrow loans. |
You can expect to receive notification of availability of a financial aid notification at your Stanford email address within 6 to 8 weeks of completing all application requirements. You can track your status and award information on Axess .
Application instructions for the 2027–2028 academic year will be available from this page in March 2027. Application instructions for Summer 2027 will be available here in April 2027.
STEP Students
