Applying for Aid

Requirements and Deadlines

To apply for aid, you will need to complete the following required forms:

• Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) — An online application provided by the U.S. Department of Education
• Graduate Student Loan Application — Stanford’s online institutional application

Autumn/Winter/Spring 2023–2024(Upcoming Year)

FAFSA	2023–2024 FAFSA — Complete online with Stanford's school code 001305.
Graduate Student Loan Application	Graduate Loan Application 2023–2024 (Choose "Upcoming Academic Year" when asked which year)
Priority Filing Deadline	Six weeks before the first day of the quarter(s) for which you wish to borrow loans.

Summer 2023

FAFSA	2022–2023 FAFSA — Complete online with Stanford's school code 001305, if you have not already done so earlier in the year.
Graduate Student Loan Application	Graduate Loan Application—Summer 2023
Priority Filing Deadline	June 1, 2023

Autumn/Winter/Spring 2022–2023(Current Year)

FAFSA	2022–2023 FAFSA — Complete online with Stanford's school code 001305.
Graduate Student Loan Application	Graduate Loan Application 2022–2023 (Choose "Current Academic Year" when asked which year)
Priority Filing Deadline	Six weeks before the first day of the quarter(s) for which you wish to borrow loans.

You can expect to receive notification of availability of a financial aid notification at your Stanford email address within 6 to 8 weeks of completing all application requirements. You can track your status and award information on Axess .

STEP Students

STEP students, whose program begins in summer quarter, have a special application form. See our STEP student section for more information.
